Stallion Mission: Do your
very best and have fun!
Mission Accomplished
The South Texas Cheer & Dance Company sent 2 competitive teams and 1
show team to the Cheer Power National Competition in San Antonio Texas
on February 1st - 3rd. The event was held at the Alomodome Center and
was host to 350 teams. Just as it has happened all year, the athletes,
parents and coaches worked together to make sure everything went as
smooth as possible. The Stallion organization was determined to be
noticed and made sure they left it all out on the cheer floor.

Youth Level 2 Cheer Team:
2 and a half minutes. That is the amount of time a team has to
showcase their routine and make an impression on the judge's.
Two days before the competition, the coaches and teams found out
that they were part of the biggest division at the National
Competition. Twenty talented teams were vying for the opportunity to
be named 2008 Cheer Power National Youth Level 2 Champions.
As soon as the Stallion All star squad stepped on the cheer mat at
8:50 pm on Friday, it was obvious that they were there to take care of
business. From the jumps, dance and tumbling sequences to the final
pyramid sequence, the team kept the crowd involved with their
confidenct smiles and flashy choreography. As soon as their 2 and a
half minutes were up, they exited confidently in their performance.
When it was time for the coaches to check the scores, they found that
the South Texas Stallions were ranked in 1st place overall and were
tied for the highest Small Gym Level 2 score of all age groups. The
Stallion camp was thrilled, but it was far from over. First day scores
count 25% while the second day scores count 75%.
On Saturday the team went in with a lot of confidence but the
routine did not go as smooth as it had on Friday. Everyone just hoped
for the best and anxiously awaited the Awards Ceremony. After the last
Level 2 team performed, the announcer called all teams and coaches to
the cheer floor while parents filled up the stands. The announcer
began by saying "This is the biggest division in the competition.
Anywhere you finish you should be proud." In 20th place, In 19th place
and he went on and on and he reached 10th place and the Stallions
still had not been called. He kept going until only five teams
remained. The squad looked at each other and smiled as they sensed
that something really special could happen. The coaches kept looking
at each other without saying a word. Some of the parents confidently
sat up straight while others refused to look up. Then the 5th place
team was called and then the 4th place team and still no Stallions
called. Only 3 teams remained, all which had done a tremendous job.
Then the announcer said "In third place from Mission Texas" (there was
another team from Mission, so no one knew how to react) and he called
the other guys. Of course every Stallion member was thrilled that it
wasn't our name called. He then went on to say "And then there were
two. Should I keep going?" The squad didn't even respond. All those
countless hours in the gym, all the adversity the team have had to
overcome in the past year, and yes it was an honor to be the top two,
but wouldn't it be great to finish first. "Ok, Ok I will keep going.
In second place from Cedar Park" And the Stallion camp went into a
frenzy. NATIONAL CHAMPS, NATIONAL CHAMPS, SOUTH TEXAS STALLIONS
Youth Level 2 are National Champs. CAN U FEEL IT?

The Mini Level 2 team
The Mini Cheer squad was the first Stallion team to perform at the
Main Floor at the Alamodome. The team had competed at two Regionals
and had already accomplished two first place awards. However this was
Nationals and about 40%of this group were new to the National scene.
But right from warm ups this team was excited and ready to go. The
lights and amount of people seemed to electrify the team as they hit
every motion, jump and stunt with huge smiles on their faces. The team
performed their 2 and a half minute routine and exited confidently. It
was now in the judge's hands. The Mini scores were posted right before
the Youth team was about to perform and they were ranked first out of
seven teams.
The Mini team had to report at 6:45 am on Saturday morning in
complete attire. During the warm ups the team looked a little
sluggish. The coaches immediately gave each team member some CHOCOLATE
fuel. The team performed very well as all stunts stuck and tumbling
looked strong. The Awards for the Mini team was after the Show team
performed but before the Youth Level 2 team would perform. The
announcer began calling out teams and they went one by one.
Immediately we knew there was going to be a tie since they started out
by saying in sixth place and there were seven teams. When it went down
all the way to second place, we knew that we were one of two teams
that would be named National Champions. As soon as they called our
names we received our medals, banner and team trophy and we took off
to go get the jackets. Well little did we know that our Mini team was
also named HIGH POINT CHAMPIONS and our coaches were awarded the BEST
CHOREOGRAPHY. This was a huge achievement and statement. While many
Gymnasium Owners and Coaches hire choreographers from all over the
country, the Stallion Company has always taken pride in doing its own
choreography. This is a huge testament to our dedicated coaching
staff. Congratulations MINI Level 2 - YOU ARE NATIONAL
CHAMPIONS, HIGH POINT CHAMPIONS, and you helped your gymnasium receive
BEST CHOREOGRAPHY! Simply the Best!
Show Team
(picture coming soon)
South Texas Cheer & Dance Company takes great pride in all of its
teams, but they are extremely proud of the Show Teams. The Show
Teamers is a non competitive team that solely goes to the competition
to showcase their skills. We believe that this is extremely important
in the development of our future All stars. The Show Team gave the
best performance that they had done all year. They smiled, hit their
moves on cue and one athlete did a round off back hand spring. After
the Show teamers performed their routine, each team member was awarded
a huge trophy. The Stallion Show team did an amazing job and the
future looks bright for the Company.
Words from Director Ileana Martinez
It was a Stallion weekend and it was a TEAM effort.
Athletes you worked so hard all year and with almost
no complaints. You poured your heart into your team and into what you
were doing and it paid off. Remember that winning a National title is
a great thing, but your confidence, character and class make you what
you are - A CHAMPION!
Enjoy this, for it is only the beginning of what awaits you. You are
the Best and I am proud of you!
Parents you made this all possible with your
continuous support, positive feedback and cooperation throughout the
year. The way you came together and helped with make up, hair, skirt
pinning etc., you make things so much easier at competitions and
demonstrations. Be proud of your little one, for they accomplished
something great and even though they might not say it often they are
grateful to have parents that believe in them and whom are willing to
give them this opportunity to not only excel in cheer but learn life
lessons as well.
Coaches you are the best period. God has literally
blessed me with the best coaching staff. You truly believe in what you
are doing and at the end of the day you want the very best for each
Stallion. You were challenged early in the year and you have responded
like GREAT LEADERS and I just can't say enough of what you mean to
these great atletes and their parents. Keep up the good work. GO
STALLIONS!

Stallions - Simply the Best Baby!
Excitement is in the AIR!
With around 2 months of preparation, the South Texas
Cheer & Dance teams traveled to Corpus Christi on Sunday
Nov. 11th for their first competition of the 2007 - 2008
season. 6 teams and 3 soloists represented
the South Texas Cheer and Dance Company throughout the
day. Veteran and Rookie families were decked out
in their Stallion attire along with noise makers and
signs. Everyone came together and supported with
even the most minor of details and it paid off. It
was a great day to compete and a fantastic day to be a
STALLION!
The company started off with a BANG!
The Reigning National Champion Mini Hip Hop team was the
first Stallion team to perform and definitely set the
tone for the rest of the squads. They brought the
house down with an awesome mix filled with songs and
beats from the most prestigious hip hop stars. The
team that consists of 2nd & 3rd graders brought home
their first Championship title of the season. The team
is headed by Diana Guerrero and assisted by Vanessa
Conde and Amy Sojak. The Mini Hip Hop team members
are Alyssa Bazan, Alyssa Garza, Daylann Garza, Makayla
Garza, Natalie Garza, Victoria Garza, Maya Martinez and
Malaya Pistokache.
Get
your left foot, put it out in the front, and do it
AAAAHHHH like this!
One would think with only 1 returning youth hip hop
dancer and 1 sixth grader that the team would have to
work its way to the top. Ah no, that's not how it is at
the Stallion gym. The team let everyone know that they
are the real deal and proved it by not only bringing
home the Championship title but also got crowned High
Point Dance Champions. The team that boasts a
roster of four fourth graders (3 who were 2007 mini hip
hop national champions), two fifth graders, and 1 6th
grader are expected to bring home top awards this year.
The team is headed by Diana Guerrero and assisted by
Vanessa Conde and Amy Sojak. The Youth Hip Hop
team members are Deandra Garza, Desiree Garza, Jesselle
Gonzalez, Brianna Granados, Alba Panuco, Mayra To! scano
and Danniana Zapata.
I am a Super Star!
Their is a beginning to everything and the Cheer Show
Team proved that the future is shining bright for the
Stallion company. The non competitive squad were adored
by fans with their bright metallic gold poms and cheers
and dance. Every single member of this team were
awarded show team trophies and made the coaches and
parents very proud. Only 1 member of the team had
ever performed in a competitition. The team is
made up of three, four and five year olds and are
coached by Amy Sojak and assisted by Diana Guerrero.
The Cheer Show Team members are Haileigh Castillo,
Alyssa Cavazos, Giselle Guerrero, Gianni Lopez, Samantha
Ortiz, Karyme Palomares, Britney Quintero and Heather
Striowski.
Soulja Boy! Go Stallions!
The Hip Hop Show Team performed as if they were a
competitve team. Just like the Cheer Show Team
only 1 member of this team had ever performed in a
competition, but you couldn't tell as they rocked the
gymnasium with their signature stomping and clapping
moves as well as pumps and floor tricks. The team
is coached by Amy Sojak. The Dance Show Team
members are Abby Bazan, Haleigh Castillo, Ethan Garza,
Kaitlin Garza, Diana Martinez and Ramon Martinez.
I'm Gonna Live Forever, Baby Remember My Name, Oh Ya
Stallions!
The Mini Level 2 Cheer Team performed a stellar routine
with a heart felt mix and let everyone know that the
Stallions are a Multiple Threat. The Cheer team
had straight up cupies/awesomes and extentions as well
as three basket tosses and straight up pyramids.
The flip flopping Mini team brought the Stallion Company
another Championship title. The team who earned
the 2006 National Championship title is determined to
bring it back to the Stallion gym. The team is
headed by Vanessa Conde and assisted by Amy Sojak and
Robert Diaz. The Mini Level 2 team are
Jackie Bazan, Victoria Bazan, Ashley Estrada, Alyssa
Garza, Daylann Garza, Makayla ! Garza, Natalie Garza,
Alesha Herebia, Maya Martinez, Kazzandra Meza,
Annautica Perez, Malaya Pistokache, Jhenna Ozuna, Erica
Perez, Rebecca Ramirez, Lyric Tharp, Bailey Villalon,
Karina Velez.
Can you Feel It, Can you Feel It, Can you Feel it?
The Youth Level 2 Cheer Team made a huge statement
on Sunday. Although the team was denied a
championship title, the Stallions proved that they are
definitely front runners for the National Championships
in February and March. The Stallions who brought
home a 2nd place trophy wowed the crowds with
their flashy, clean and sharp choreoagraphy. The young,
talented and high spirited team is very committed and
loyal to each other which will make the 2007 -2008
season a huge success. The team is coached by
Vanessa Conde and assisted by Amy Sojak and Robert
Diaz. The Cheer Youth Level 2 team members are Brenda
Cardenas, Ashley Estrada, Deandra Garza, Desiree Garza,
Makayla Garza, Brianna Granados, Jeselle Gonzalez, Shelseah
Leal, Jennifer Leal, Stacy ! Ozuna, Malaya Pistokache, Mayra
Toscano, and Danniana Zapata.
Bet on it, I'm Worth it, Baby Girl. Stallion
Soloists ROCK! Beginning with the smooth and emotional
Jazz soloist Malaya Pistokache, followed by Cutie Street
Dancer Maya Martinez, and anchored by Pro like Street
Dancer Stacy Ozuna, the Company was pleased with all 3
performances. The girls brought home 2 first
place and 1 second place
trophy and is the beginning of what seems to be the most
promising year in Solo dance.
The South Texas Cheer and Dance Company would like to
congratulate the athletes for their hard work and
dedication in the past few months. We would also
like to thank the parents for their continuous support
and cooperation. Your children love and appreciate
you and so do we. This is just the beginning of
competition season and our coaches and staff will
continue to strive to get the best out of every
athlete. During competition season, things can sometimes
get hectic and extremely competitive, and we want
to thank our athletes and parents for carrying
themselves with the upmost class, confidence and
character. For this is how we mold ourselves to be
TRUE CHAMPIONS. And after all we want to be the
best in cheer and dance but more importantly our very
best in LIFE! GO STALLIONS!

NATIONAL
CHAMPION - Daniela Garza competed at the Cheer Power National
Dance Competition in Columbus Ohio on March 31-April 2 and becomes
the 1st Stallion Fly girl to ever bring home the crown. All star
Kathlyn Guerrero brought home the 3rd place trophy in the same
division. Daniela might have been the first but she wasn't the only
one to bring home it back to South Texas. The Jr. Prep group dance
(Rachelle Rosales, Lilliana Rocha, Yvette Ramirez) also won 1st
place. Daniela & the Jr. Prep team were awarded trophies & leather
letterman jackets. Daniela is a 4 year Stallion All star member. She
is coached by Vanessa Conde. You can see Daniela, Kathy, Lilliana,
Rachelle, Yvette and many more at the Annual Recital on May 20th at
the La Joya auditorium. Good Job Girls!

It has been 4 years in the making. 2002 was the last time the South
Texas Cheer & Dance Stallions brought home a National trophy. The
National banner hung alone on the second floor of the Stallin
headquarters. That was until February 4th, 2006. The Mini team
comprised of Kinder, 1st & 2nd graders swept the 2 days of
competition, and they did it by beating opponents by 30 - 100
points. Anyone who knows anything about cheerleading understands how
big a margin this is. Coach Mario Molina stated, "I am just so proud
of them. They have worked really hard all year & now look they are
National Champs." Every cheerleader participant and 1 coach receives
a leather jacket with National Champion embroidered on the front and
back and gold medals. Parents pitched in and bought 2 more jackets
for the remaining coaches & gave each girl a National trophy.
The Mini cheer team will be traveling to Orlando Florida in March to
compete at the UCA National championships. They are coached by Mario
Molina & Vanessa Conde. Other coaches for the Cheer & Dance teams
are Diana Guerrero, Art Esquivel & Kelly Chapa. The cheerleaders are
Makayla Garza, Alyssa Bazan, Samantha Gonzalez, Natalie Garza, Julie
Guajardo, Deandra Garza, Daylann Garza, Lizette Alonzo, Mariah
Gonzalez, Alyssa Olivarez, Maya Martinez. Alyssa Garza, Victoria De
