Who Can Take Ballet Lessons

Girls and boys starting ages 3 and up are eligible for ballet classes with us at our ballet classes. Boys and girls who study ballet develop strong bodies, special and temporal awareness, and improve their coordination. A proved scientific, long-term bonus is that students retain the flexibility brought about by ballet training throughout their adult lives.

Ballet Classes at Stallions

In our preschool ballet classes we begin center floor in a circle, either sitting or standing, with stretching, balancing and strengthening exercises. We also go across the floor with ballet steps and dance steps of leaps, bourrees, chasses, as well as our motor skills of hopping, skipping, jumping, marching, etc. Our preschool ballet lessons are packed with fun, creativity and excitement for the young dancers.

Once students are in kindergarten through adult, the ballet classes start out at the ballet barre for their ballet positions, posture, stretch and strengthening exercises. Then students move to center floor for leaps, turns, jumps, adagio (slow) and allegro (fast) ballet steps. These combinations of ballet steps are then danced across the floor.

All of our ballet classes from preschool ballet classes, childrens ballet classes to adult ballet classes are taught the proper names for each step.

What Ballet Dancers Need to Wear

Ballet dancers will need a leotard and tights for their ballet lessons, any color and style are acceptable. Ballet skirts and tutus are also appropriate for class. We recommend pink ballet shoes for all ballet classes. Young ballet students who are still growing may get ballet shoes that have a little room for growth. Once a ballet student is beginning tween to teen years, ballet shoes should fit snugly on the foot.

Respect is a big part of ballet lessons. Proper etiquette is an important part of the ballet class and will benefit students throughout their lives!
