Latest News:
On the Tuesday before the competition,
over 450 teams were sent a schedule for the upcoming Cheer Power
National competition that was to be held at the Alamodome in San
Antonio, Texas. The Stallion All Stars Dominators Junior Level 2
team & the Stallion All Stars Beasts Senior Co-Ed Level 4 team would
compete against some great teams from across the Southern part of
the country. On Wednesday night, just like months prior to the
competition, the Stallions focused and had a great practice. Parents
got together and made signs, noise makers, decorated their cars, and
stocked up on Stallion Attire. On Friday & Saturday, teams drove to
San Antonio and got ready to "Bring it On".
The
Junior Dominators, who are comprised of 4th-9th grade
students, were up first at the prestigious event. At the end of the
competition season, 8 teams were battling for the coveted Cheer
Power Junior Level 2 National Championship title. The Stallions went
through the first day of warm ups very smooth but nerves hit just a
few minutes before hitting the main floor. Well when they hit that
main floor, all nerves went out the window. The Stallion Dominators
tumbled beautifully, stunted great, jumped high and wowed everyone
with their dance.
Everyone came off the floor excited with
their performance, but there were other teams with the same goal,
and this is where the waiting game begins. After a couple of hours,
preliminary scores were up and there it was as bright as day, the
Stallion team was leading the race by over 15 points and at the time
was leading all Level 2 teams from both Small & Large gyms. Joy
spread throughout the Stallion camp, but they knew it was far from
over. Day 1 of competition only counts 25% while Day 2 counts 75%.
When the second day began, everyone knew just how close they were to
coming home as National Champions. The practice on the warm up floor
was descent, but not flawless. Oh boy, but the team turned up the
Dominating factor once they hit that floor. They put on the best
performance of the season (up to date) and they had fun in the
process. "I just kept yelling they're doing it, they're doing it
throughout the whole routine." said Director Ileana Martinez.
Although they went out there and did great so did the other teams
that competed against them. The awards came on, and they began to
announce the Finalists teams, then they got to 5th place, 4th place,
3rd place and still no Stallion Dominators called. It was Louisiana
and Texas left in the Top 2. And the announcer went on and said in
2nd place from Louisiana, yup yup yup - Stallion All Stars
Dominators from Mission Texas are the National Champions. Plus the
team ended up scoring the highest score of the day in Level 2 on the
second day of competition and were awarded the BEST CHOREOGRAPHY
award. For this Victory, the Stallion All Stars were awarded a Team
Trophy, Team Banner, Team Plaque plus each team member was awarded a
gold medallion and a leather letterman jacket. So when it was all
said and done the team brought home the highest score from any
previous Stallion team in the past 9 seasons. Congratulations. Go
Stallions!!!
The
Stallion All Stars Beasts, who are comprised of 5th -
12th graders, were attending their 2nd competition of the season.
During the last 2 weeks of competition, the team revamped their
routine and worked non-stop to ensure a great performance at the
National. But no one from the Rio Grande Valley had ever brought
home any kind of Level 4 National title. Before hitting the warm-up
floors, the team was anxious and on their own were going over the
routine a bunch of times. Coaches had to constantly remind them to
relax. When they got to the warm up floors, some of the stunts
weren't hitting as smooth as they should. But this team had a bond,
and had become great friends, and when it came down to it, their
best was about to come out. On the main floor, all their stunts
stuck, however some timing was off, but when the dance section hit,
the 10 girls and 6 boys turned up the Beastly Heat. After going back
and checking the scores, the team was in 2nd place. The well known
Champions team from San Antonio were up by 4 points after the first
night of competition. The team could of easily folded but came out
swinging on the second day. But so did the other team. Stallions had
great moments, but so did they - they made mistakes, but so did we.
But how awesome would this win be for the 3 seniors on the team, the
Stallion twins that had been members since 4th grade, the young
loyal beastly 4 year - 6 year members, the beastly ones that had
returned to Stallions after a few years of absence, the 2 Football
players who learned so much & made every practice interesting, the
one who inspired the team that even with metal plates in his arm did
everything and then some day in and day out, and who could leave out
1st year member who said he has never won anything in his whole
life. As they began doing the younger teams in Level 4, the team
started preparing themselves. Some stood up confident, while others
covered their ears, closed their eyes, hugged each other or just
stood still. When they said in 2nd place, you couldn't hear a pin
drop, but when they said from San Antonio, Excitement, Disbelief,
Joy, Shock, Pride, Screams, Jumps, and so much more took over. There
you go Diego - you can't say you never won anything. You along with
your Stallion teammates are the first ever Rio Grande Valley team to
bring home a LEVEL 4 NATIONAL TITLE!!! For this Victory, the
Stallion All Stars were awarded a Team Trophy, Team Banner, Team
Plaque plus each team member was awarded a gold medallion and a
leather letterman jacket. We are Stallions!!!
Great Job to the Athletes, Parents, Coaches, Family & Friends for a
great season thus far. Way to represent the Rio Grande Valley. Come
join the fun - If you are interested in joining the Stallion All
Star Family or if you are interested in Beginner classes, call
